Top-down spatially-explicit probabilistic estimation of building energy performance at a scale

Based on a sample of buildings with known energy performance, we found the theoretical distributions best suited for simulating buildings of various types in Trondheim.

This enabled the estimation of total energy use by buildings, with known type and heated floor area, per geospatial grid cell (figure below).
